Wolfruna Chapter Iron Butt Challenge

This weekend our brothers and sisters at Wolfruna Chapter HOG are undertaking a mammoth 24 hour Iron Butt Challenge in aid of the The Chloe Smail Foundation. The team are riding from John O’Groats to Lands End in 24 hours via Newcastle, where I understand they plan to pay tribute to the Chloe . This is not an insignificant ride of over 1000 miles in 24 hours.

At short notice Clyde Valley were able to pull together a wee welcoming party to meet them as they came through West Coast Harley Davidson as they head north to their start point on Saturday.

After a visit and chat with everyone at the dealership Clyde Valley were delighted to escort the group out to Dunbarton where they were stopping overnight before tackling the last leg north today ( Friday).

Meet the Chapter Night

On Wednesday we had our monthly “Meet the Chapter night” at West Coast HD. It was a bit of a special occasion this one, with a good turnout of members as we had a wee presentation of the sum of £3000 to Prostate Scotland.

The money was collected from donations and fundraising activities at this year’s Gathering and rounded up from chapter charity funds to the final total.

After a wee talk of the activities of the charity the presentation of the cheque was made by our standing down Director Stevie Trainor.

Dunbar RNLI Gala Day

Moving on to Saturday and we had our annual outing supporting our friends at Dunedin HOG who participate in the RNLI Gala Day procession at Dunbar. Could we have had a better day for it? Doubtful. The bulk of the Clyde Valley bikes rode to Hermiston Gait on the west edge of Edinburgh where we met up with more CVH and Dunedin riders and we rode as a group to Dunbar in blistering sunshine.

There were I beleive 49 bikes in total and we joined the procession through the town and parked up along the harbour wall.

This looked like the biggest gala Day at Dunbar so far, with lots of stands and activities taking place. It was thankfully a little cooler at the harbour with the sea breezes. The ride back across East Lothian and beyond was done in continental heat with the air warm and the heat radiating off the road. A brilliant day out.

Meet the Chapter Night Presentation to Prostate Cancer Scotland

07/07/2025

This Wednesday we have our regular monthly Meet the Chapter night between 18:00 and 20:00. As a special event , this month we have a representative of Prostate Cancer Scotland coming to collect a cheque which is the proceeds of what was collected at The Gathering in June.

It would be brilliant if we could have as many members present for the presentation, but also it would be great to have members who have been affected by Prostate Cancer either currently or in the past.

The weather is looking promising this week so we are optimistic for a big turn out.

Glasgow Childrens Hospital Charity

A wee thank-you

The Chapter received a letter from the Glasgow Childrens Hospital Charity. They thanked us for a recent donation. We gave them £4000 from fundraising activities over 2024. Well done everyone.

WCHD Christmas event

This weekend there is the Christmas Cracker Event at WCHD. Santa Claus will be at the dealership in search of a new ride, meeting with the kids, collecting their letters and showing off his sleigh!

You can also expect a rocking Christmas jingle upstairs – with LIVE music from Gordon Seith and a sprinkle of Christmas magic to our menu. Mince pies, cookies and much more await to fill your belly, plus complimentary mulled wine served throughout the day.

We look forward to seeing you there if you have the time in what can be a busy weekend before the big day. If not, everyone at Clyde Valley HOG hopes to see you in the New Year and hopes you have a great Christmas and New Year.

Ladies of Harley Strawberry Tea 2023

A little later than last year and coinciding with the Halloween Hoe-down event at West Coast Harley Davidson, our wonderful Ladies of Harley served up a spread of sweet treats in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

With the dealership packed with visitors getting into the Wild West spirit it led to a very busy day for the Ladies and at the time of writing over £1000 was raised with still more coming in. Watch out for the final total on our facebook page sometime soon.

A brilliant result and big thanks to everyone who made or supplied cakes and treats, or just came along to support the Ladies and the chapter, buying cakes, taking part in the fun and generally mucking in.

Aside from the high falutin’ cakery there was some good ‘ole Southern music from Gordon Reith and we had a posse of gunslingers demonstrating some very quick on-the-draw skills.

A great day and a lot of cash raised for a very worthy charity.

Dunbar RNLI Gala day and SFoM 2023

A busy weekend for Clyde Valley HOG and first up was a ride out to Dunbar over on the East Coast to support the RNLI Gala day. A couple of bikes from Dunedin also attended and the weather stayed somewhat miraculously dry for the most part, with what appears to have been a small shower just as the bikes were departing for home. While the weather has been changeable this last month most of the ride outs have been able to dodge the weather and ended up with good conditions so sometimes its worth taking a chance and just coming along, more often than not we get away with it. Scottish Festival of Motoring 2023

Sunday we had another posse of bikes and members heading east once again, this time early on Sunday morning to show our bikes at Ingleston showground and the Scottish Festival of Motoring.

Again, it sounds that despite the outside pitch at the event, the weather stayed dry all day.

Ladies with Certificates

I Love the Smell of Nalpalm…and toasted feet

Well the Ladies of Harley team pulled it off with ( so far) raising more than double their original target with the total currently standing at £2175. All the team completed the challenge of the Renfrew Firewalk on Friday night and were delighted when Fitzy and Iain stepped up to collect the certificates of completion.

When interviewed after the event, Fitzy said ” I put down my success to the thickness of the soles in my Caterpillar Boots”…..Iain added, “aye, and I kept my socks on as well”…. Some achievement!

But seriously, the ladies I understand did at least 4 trips over the coals and now only walk with slight limps on the stumps that were left after the ordeal. Lucky they all have bikes to get on. We have all heard the phrase “knees in the breeze”, after the walk they were all “feet in the freezer”. A fantastic effort and if you still would like to contribute it’s not yet too late. The Ladies of Harley are once again on the march, literally through fire, in aid of Brain Tumour Research, a cause very close to everyone here at Clyde Valley HOG particularly at this moment in time.

Have a search down the back of the sofa, check the pockets of your jeans before you lob them in the washing machine (what do you mean you don’t wash your jeans?) . Check the wee bin things on that Ultra Glide, look in the panniers of your Sport Glide, and scrape together every penny you can to help the ladies with their quest to raise £1000.

Gordon’s 90th Birthday Ride Out and WCHD Easter Weekender

What a Fabulous weekend!!

This was a Clyde Valley “mates” run. A group of Road Crew and Clyde Valley regulars rode out to Newton Mearns to bring some V Twin joy to a “nonagenarian”…..(look it up, that’s someone in their 90’s), Gordon Bland, a lifelong biker and friend of Road Captain Jigger’s family. On the occasion of his 90th Birthday, Clyde Valley brought Gordon, his son in law and Grandson in to spend a few hours enjoying the Easter party atmosphere at West Coast. There was Birthday cake, live music, a charity BBQ in aid of CHAS being run by Clyde Valley HOG and lots and lots of Bikes.

Gordon rode Pillion on the back of California Highway Patrol’s latest recruit, Tommy Poncharello’s CVO Trike and was escorted by his family members on the back of Davie Fultons Sport Glide, and Connor Fitzsimmons Street Glide.

A noisy accompaniment was provided by the riders of CVH. Everyone made it out and made it back, though to be fair, one of the residents took a shine to Brians’s Street Glide and he nearly became a resident himself.

We made short video of the ride to collect Gordon, crank up the volume and enjoy Gordons entry to his 90th year….Wild and Free. You might find it easier to download the video to watch, any half-decent tablet or PC should be able to cope with it…..Can’t really share via YouTube for obvious reasons due to the audio.

Easter Sunday Ride out

Clyde Valley joined with hundreds of other bikers from across the West of Scotland to take part in the Glasgow Childrens Hospital Charity Easter Egg Run through the city from Glasgow Green to Braehead.

We had about 15 riders out for this great cause and then the party continued at West Coast with more burgers and BBQ.

By days end the Chapter had raised a colossal £1400 for GCHC from the weekend. Well done everyone who came out and supported us and West Coast with this event, a brilliant result!

Winterfest 2022

Winterfest got the festive season off to a rocking start last night with the Clyde Valley HOG Chapter annual end-of-season shindig held at the Glasgow Hard Rock Cafe.

We had a great attendance with both members and friends of the chapter getting together to reminisce over the riding year behind us, talk plans for the bike over the winter, and ideas for the new year to come.

We have an expanded Road Crew with Connor Fitzsimmons and Davie Fulton joining the Road Captains and they received their patches, and a wee bottle of “Jack” each as well as both receiving awards for the time and work they put into the chapter over the year. We also had Raymond Brodie join the Road Captains earlier in the season, so well done to them all.

Other recipients of awards were Tommy Girvan, Brian “Fitz” Fitzpatrick, Alan “Lairdy” MacTaggart for all the time put in with Road Crew and Bike Nights. Kenny Halley also got the “Webmaster” patch ( I think Lairdy wanted him to now be referred to as Spiderman!) as he formally took up the role on the Committee after updating this site.

The band for the night were OverDrive and what a storming couple of sets they put on, covering rock classics covering everything from Neil Young to Velvet Revolver and everything in between. Some guests literally danced all night. Lots of prizes were dished out for raffles and the number board, and an auction for the services of Connor and Jigger in their other life as “Exceed Joinery” raised over £400 for charity.

The total raised for charitable causes was a fantastic £1100.
