Scotland’s Secret Bunker Ride Out ’22

The Chapter at Scotland's Secret Bunker

August 2022 Chapter Ride Out

Our monthly chapter Ride out was an ambitious first effort for apprentice Road Captain, Connor Fitzsimmons, taking a healthy turn out of bikes about 23, riders and pillions right across Scotland from WCHD to just outside St Andrews, using mostly back roads. Fortunately, the ride out was on a Sunday morning and the bikes didn’t get too broken up by traffic on the way out the north side of the city then out via Lennoxtyown, Kilsyth, and then up to Airth Services for the first stop of the day.

After a coffee and a leg stretch, the chapter carried on across into Clackmannanshire and then onto Fife around Dunfermline, Lochgelly, Kirkaldy and Leven before turning up across the East neuk towards Crail and Scotlands Secret Bunker.

There were a couple of drop-offs and wrong turns caused by some pretty significant road works that we hit out beyond Leven but everyone arrived safe and sound and it was a brilliant effort on a tricky route by the young Jigger prodigy.

As the day wore on the weather improved from threatening with the odd light shower to actually quite a warm day. The Secret Bunker was a very interesting venue to visit and evoked quite a lot of memories for various groups of the chapter harking back to the ’80’s.

Ladies of Harley Strawberry Tea and Ride Out 2022

On Saturday the 13th of August the Clyde Valley Ladies of Harley put on a spread of yummy cakes, muffins, meringues, scones and sponges to tempt visitors to West Coast Harley Davidson. The day was in aid of Breast Cancer Care and a grand total of £578 was raised, so a huge thanks to everyone that baked a cake, brought a bun or enjoyed a muffin (!).

Also a Saturday wouldn’t be a Saturday without a rideout and Road Captain, Raymond Brodie, led a group of bikes on a thoroughly enjoyable figure of eight run around the north side of Ayrshire. It wasn’t long because everyone wanted to get back for cake, but it was a lot of fun.

You can see a speeded-up playback of the run on Raymonds YouTube channel below:

Meet the Chapter Night August ’22

Wednesday the 10th August turned out to be one of the warmest days of 2022, at least here in the West of Scotland and so it was set fair for a bumper Meet the Chapter night hosted by West Coast Harley Davidson.

We had a full house of Clyde Valley HOG members from all over to make the most of the fine weather.

In ’22 Meet the Chapter nights were every second Wednesday of the month at the dealership and we hope to continue this in 2023. Keep an eye out on our Events or News feed in the New Year for all the gen.

Hog ‘n’ Bog ’22

Road Captain Raymond lets one slip

A sizable contingent of Clyde Valley took to the Irish Sea to attend Hog ‘n Bog the Belfast Chapter Rally

For once I think it’s probably easier to let the pictures do the talking, I mean what could you say to elaborate!
Looks like a great time was had by all and in great weather.

Wanlockhead Custom Show Ride Out ’22

Custom Show at Wanlock head

The 6th of August and the shop ride out this weekend was being led by trainee Road Captain Davie Fulton ( ably assisted by the lovely Catherine).

Davy took 21 Harleys down a fantastic winding route through the countryside around Ayrshire and South Lanarkshire to visit the Custom Bike show being hosted at the Wanlockhead Inn by a local MCC.

The bikes stopped off at Muirkirk for a stretch and a coffee for those that wanted to, before we upped stands and headed on the second leg of the trip along the A70, around by Crawfordjohn and across to Sanquar before heading up the Mennock Pass to Wanlockhead.

It wasn’t the sunniest day but nor was it cold and the roads were brilliant…one of the most enjoyable routes this year I would dare to say.

Great run Davie and look forward to doing this one again another time.
