February Social

Them and Us

Clyde Valley HOG kicked off the 2026 social calendar in style on Friday 27th February, with 50 members gathering for a fantastic evening at the iconic Ferry in Glasgow.

Moored on the River Clyde, The Ferry provided a brilliant setting for our first social of the year. Members arrived from across the region, many making the most of the sunshine earlier in the day before heading into the city for the evening.

The night began with a delicious 2-course dinner, giving everyone the chance to catch up after the winter break and enjoy some great company before the entertainment began. As always, it was wonderful to see so many members and partners together again, sharing stories, laughter and looking forward to the season ahead.

Entertainment for the evening came from Them & Us, a superb 9-piece tribute band bringing together the legendary music of Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd. From the moment they started playing, the atmosphere in the room lifted and the dance floor soon filled up.

The band delivered a fantastic performance, recreating some of the most iconic songs from both bands and keeping everyone entertained throughout the night. With great music, good food and plenty of familiar faces, the evening had everything that makes a Clyde Valley HOG social so special.

It was clear from the many messages and photos shared afterwards that the night had been thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended. Events like this are a great reminder that Clyde Valley HOG is not just about the bikes – it’s about the friendships, the community and the shared experiences that bring us all together.

A huge thank you goes to Vikki Love for organising another excellent event, and to everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a success.

With the first social of the year now behind us, there is a real sense of excitement building for the riding season ahead. If this night is anything to go by, 2026 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for Clyde Valley HOG.

Stirling Indian Cottage Lads Night

The second of our monthly (ish) lads night and this time the Chapter lads came to Stirling ( yaay!) for an Indian meal at the Indian Cottage on Dunbarton Road. We had 13 bikes and riders with Pete who lives fairly locally joining us at the restaurant. The group included a few new faces which is always great to see. We were also joined by David Hackshall from WCHD who was in the mood for an Indian.

Dave was stylish in his Napkin head gear. ( HD napkins we are assured), probably true as Jigger was quick to join in. Sean was suitably disgusted.

The bikes made sure Stirling was awake by the time we arrived setting a few car alarms off on the way in….well, you have to eh?

We settled for the set dinner which was excellent value and Michael the restaurant manager treated us to a few extras with our dinner as well which was very well received.

Lots of laughs, especially when Connor assured us that “real men can wear pink suits” He wouldn’t let us have the photo but it was probably the one shown.

Anyone who ate the very very hot chilli that was probably a garnish but was consumed by at least Kenny and Ian, had a small internal furnace keeping them company for the next 12 hours or so.

Big Robert was able to join us.

Great night, well executed, lets do it again some time!

Post Script: We understand big Robert suffered a bit of a bad bump to the head after getting home and spent the night in A&E. Everyone at Clyde Valley wishes you a speedy recovery mate and hope to see you again soon.

Lads night May2024

Our first Lads night happened on Friday with Jigger showing up having had a Hot Wheels logo tattoo’ed on his arm. Fitzy was eager to tell him to go back and get the Mattel Logo added to make it look legit.

We have helpfully added it here so you can go back and get it done right mate. Hope you never had to pay for that….. Don’t worry, Connor reckons a few hot showers and it should wash off.

Aside from that it was the usual throwing food at each other and romantic photo’s in the flowers. Whether any food was consumed is anyone guess, it’s likely Cosmo at Silverburn won’t be allowing them back anytime soon.

Connor announced his engagement to Chris, wait until Chris finds out Connor hasn’t got an Engagement honeymoon booked to Cyprus for them both. With Chris being a Grandad now is this even legal?

We are assuming Stevie wasn’t on his bike or he was taking the term “knee’s in the breeze” to a whole new level….also brings a new meaning to the colour “white”. Apparently Dulux have announced they want to sample his legs for their new “Ghost of Christmas Past” range.

Winterfest 2023

Winterfest 2023 was held in Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow and yes!…there was a buffet!

Around a hundred members and guests were in attendance on what was an excellent end of season party.

The entertainment was Johnny Beatties Ruck-stars who again gave everyone a great nights music and who got involved with the shennanigans on the dance floor. Andrea (the singer) I think had a bit of a sore throat but didn’t let it hold her back and she belted out some rock favourites, from AC/DC to Bad Company via Amy Winehouse. Our own Davy Henderson joined the band for a wee choon as well.

The ladies were in fine form and danced much of the night away as the chapter caught up with members and friends.

A brilliant night…it’s almost a shame we have to wait another full season to do it again…but wait…here comes The Gathering….

Pre-Season Ten Pin Bowling Night ’23

Some members* of Clyde Valley HOG met up at Hollywood Bowl, at Springfield Quay on the 18th February 2023 to “compete” for the Chapter Ten Pin Bowling Champion award. Over two games across two lanes, Gordon Murray came out victorious with a grand total of 233 points, and Tommy Girvan was runner-up on 203. Just outside the “medals” was Alan Gourley who was just behind Tommy overall, on 198 points.

West Coast Garage Party ’22

It wouldn’t be the end of another year without a wee Garage party at our sponsoring dealership West Coast Harley Davidson.

Not a Clyde Valley HOG event as such but I am sure you will identify a fair few “well-kent” faces in the audience for this event.

The West Coast Nativity
The West Coast Nativity…..three wise men at a distant, following a star and a heavenly creation under a blanket….under the watchful eye of Rudolph the red nose biker….

Around 150 guests were present to see the latest builds in the workshop, hear about the latest in Harley engine tuning from Don Performance, see the latest two custom creations to emerge from the West Coast “Custom Haus”, a pair of 131ci powered bikes, a Street Glide in a Harley #1 endowed Red and a Breakout in Black with a unique 1-3-1 playing card styled paint design and hear from some of the craftspeople engaged to bring these machines to life. Tom Hurley the bike upholstery master was there to give an insight into what goes into his hand crafted bike saddles, and Gavin Brown to tell us how much prep work and how many coats of paint go into the jaw-dropping creations he produces.

And of course there was time aplenty to speak to the team, discuss ideas, indulge in beer, burgers and Hot Dogs and have a browse at the bikes looking for new homes in the showroom.

Winterfest got the festive season off to a rocking start last night with the Clyde Valley HOG Chapter annual end-of-season shindig held at the Glasgow Hard Rock Cafe.

We had a great attendance with both members and friends of the chapter getting together to reminisce over the riding year behind us, talk plans for the bike over the winter, and ideas for the new year to come.

We have an expanded Road Crew with Connor Fitzsimmons and Davie Fulton joining the Road Captains and they received their patches, and a wee bottle of “Jack” each as well as both receiving awards for the time and work they put into the chapter over the year. We also had Raymond Brodie join the Road Captains earlier in the season, so well done to them all.

Other recipients of awards were Tommy Girvan, Brian “Fitz” Fitzpatrick, Alan “Lairdy” MacTaggart for all the time put in with Road Crew and Bike Nights. Kenny Halley also got the “Webmaster” patch ( I think Lairdy wanted him to now be referred to as Spiderman!) as he formally took up the role on the Committee after updating this site.

The band for the night were OverDrive and what a storming couple of sets they put on, covering rock classics covering everything from Neil Young to Velvet Revolver and everything in between. Some guests literally danced all night. Lots of prizes were dished out for raffles and the number board, and an auction for the services of Connor and Jigger in their other life as “Exceed Joinery” raised over £400 for charity.

The total raised for charitable causes was a fantastic £1100.

Ladies of Harley Strawberry Tea and Ride Out 2022

On Saturday the 13th of August the Clyde Valley Ladies of Harley put on a spread of yummy cakes, muffins, meringues, scones and sponges to tempt visitors to West Coast Harley Davidson. The day was in aid of Breast Cancer Care and a grand total of £578 was raised, so a huge thanks to everyone that baked a cake, brought a bun or enjoyed a muffin (!).

Also a Saturday wouldn’t be a Saturday without a rideout and Road Captain, Raymond Brodie, led a group of bikes on a thoroughly enjoyable figure of eight run around the north side of Ayrshire. It wasn’t long because everyone wanted to get back for cake, but it was a lot of fun.

You can see a speeded-up playback of the run on Raymonds YouTube channel below:
