We’re thrilled to share that we raised an incredible £1,135.56 in aid of Breast Cancer Now!
Our Ladies of Harley once again outdid themselves, serving up amazing cakes and treats – all for a great cause.
We were delighted to welcome guests from the British Red Cross and the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, who joined us to receive cheques from the Chapter.
A special shout-out and heartfelt thanks to the members from other chapters and the various bike clubs who came along – your support and camaraderie made the day even more special.
Raising money for Breast Cancer Now helps fund life-saving research, support patients and families, and improve care for everyone affected. Every donation brings us closer to better treatments, earlier detection, and a future where no one dies from breast cancer.
Thank you all for your generosity, enthusiasm, and support – you’ve truly helped make a difference!

On Saturday, we kicked off the riding season with an overnight trip to the Buccleuch Arms in Moffat, attracting nearly 40 Harleys and over 50 members. Despite changing weather, we arrived safely and enjoyed the hotel’s amenities. The night was filled with laughs and mischief, marking a successful start to the season. Last Saturday was the last (official) ride out of the season …though judging by the weather currently there still seems to be a week or two left with great bike conditions. It was our sponsoring dealer’s event, West Coast Harley Davidson’s Harleyween weekend. Additionally, the Clyde Valley Ladies of Harley organized their Strawberry Tea event in support of Breast Cancer Care in Glasgow.
With the End of Season Mystery Ride needing to be canned the previous weekend due to the storm front that swept through Scotland, it was decided to have a wee compensatory ride out to end the season on tarmac before everyone headed in to eat cake.
For the ride out we went a nice wee loop down to Stewarton then across by Newton Mearns and back up through Barrhead to WCHD. A ride of about 80 minutes or so and one in which we encountered what seemed like 4 seasons on one run. It was warm, it was cold, it was wet and it was dry, but we had some great ( new to us) roads on the route and its one to bear in mind for drier warmer days.
Back at WCHD it was Spooky goings on and much cakery with a Tarot Card reader, and face painting on the go as well. Lots of people made an effort with the fancy dress and the Ladies made a fantastic £660 pounds for Breast Cancer Care.

A little later than last year and coinciding with the Halloween Hoe-down event at West Coast Harley Davidson, our wonderful Ladies of Harley served up a spread of sweet treats in aid of Breast Cancer Care.
With the dealership packed with visitors getting into the Wild West spirit it led to a very busy day for the Ladies and at the time of writing over £1000 was raised with still more coming in. Watch out for the final total on our facebook page sometime soon.
A brilliant result and big thanks to everyone who made or supplied cakes and treats, or just came along to support the Ladies and the chapter, buying cakes, taking part in the fun and generally mucking in.
Aside from the high falutin’ cakery there was some good ‘ole Southern music from Gordon Reith and we had a posse of gunslingers demonstrating some very quick on-the-draw skills.
A great day and a lot of cash raised for a very worthy charity.

2023 was the 25th running of Thunder in the Glens and it would be rude for CVH not to be there. A sizable contingent of Clyde Valley began making their way to Aviemore on Thursday but we still had a good-sized group riding up on the Chapter ride to Thunder from West Coast HD.

Led by Jigger around 17 bikes left WCHD at 11:30 in what were pretty changeable conditions. It actually started quite dry, but was mostly wet with torrential rain around the Stepps bypass heading out on the M80 and, as ever past …what’s it called?…. Cumbernauld.
Cumbernauld folk have evolved to have webbed feet and lay their eggs in puddles and ponds each spring. Probably.

The group arrived safely at Stirling where we picked up around another 10 or so bikes for the next leg up to Pitlochry. This also provided an opportunity for one rider to lose their keys down the leg of their knickers.

As always the sun was shining as we parked up at the Blair Atholl Distillery and grabbed a sandwich. Davie Fulton had nipped down from Thunder to meet us and join us for the ride back up. (maybe not the best move as the weather got progressively worse over the last 50 miles of the trip- but he don’t care… Probably).
Suitably checked in at Thunder we met up at the Winking Owl…supposedly for a photo but the weather (utterly persisting down) and later arrival of some meant others had drifted away and that kind of never happened. There were smurfs though.

After a wet Friday night it was pretty much raining stair rods again most of Saturday for the mass ride out to Grantown on Spey via Lochindorb. If you had done it before, in the conditions, many would have went….”nah, not this time”, but if you have never done the ride out then it was a case of why let rain spoil the fun. Around 900-1000 riders were of the latter view and it made for a spectacular sight leaving Aviemore. Quite a few CVH members joined the ride joined by some who rode up for the day as well. Then there was the Ladies of Harley event…staying classy as we knew you would . Probably.

As usual, there was plenty of entertainment both official and unofficial in the various venues that line the Aviemore “strip”.
Sunday started a bit more variable with showery conditions which did initially worsen but then by early afternoon it was actually quite bright and dare I say, sunny. The Sunday ride out to Cairngorm while a smaller affair than Saturday’s ride, was actually very well attended, I am tempted to suggest there were more bikes this year than last year, and someone needs to explain to me the bone-dry couple of miles at the head of Loch Morlich heading up to the hill ( which was merely moist as well). It got wetter the closer to Aviemore High Street you went ( official: scientifically proven study conducted by me) until early afternoon when it all cleared up.

Sunday night had some great entertainment with top British Rock band Massive Wagons leading the way, followed by the rally finale led by the Rick Parfitt Junior Band singing all the usual covers and getting the audience involved.

A final post script: Clyde Valley HOG wish to convey our best wishes to Dunedin Chapter Director Stewart Willox and his partner Kerry who were involved in a rather nasty RTA on the Flying Fortress on Monday while heading to Grantown to get fuel. Apparently, the car driver that hit them pulling out of a junction didn’t see them… how can you miss seeing a huge Harley painted like an American flag on a highland road….? Speedy recovery to you both!

As if burning your feet for charity wasn’t enough activity for one weekend those Ladies of Harley were out again on Saturday this time on altogether ‘cooler’ pursuits (see what I did there?) for International Ladies Ride day.
Seven Lady Riders took a ride out to Helensburgh heading over the Old Military Road, led by LoH Officer Janice, with Jigger and Connor along to provide Road Crew Duty support.
Pete Mulkerrins also attended but he mistook the ride out as the “Camping trip” and had decided to dress the part. He also requested he be referred to as Petrina….which didn’t seem to be news to Katrina.

Connor not wishing to be left out of the cross-dressing action has allegedly already bought his Ladies of Harley Patches ( ……’with wings’…. what?) and has a range of recipes to try out for Strawberry Tea Weekend.
We imagine it’s safer letting him loose with a food mixer rather than a nail gun.
The ladies, all headed out to Helensburgh for a few pictures and no doubt to have a cooling dip of those singed feet in the Clyde before returning to WCHD for tea and Medals.
The Actual “Camping” Trip
The Other group riding out on Saturday morning was an ‘actual’ camping trip…not the cross-dressing festival that Petrina turned out for. Scott took a group of about 8 of the hardier riders out for a ride up through Glencoe, via Fort William and ending up at Skye for an overnight under canvas….and there wasn’t a bottle of eyeliner in sight…. well not that anyone is admitting though apparently there may have been some sunken looken eyes the next morning.
It was hard to see if Scott had packed his make-up bag or his “special underwear” for an overnight trip.Ian appeared to be carrying off the Windswept and Interesting look for the 2024 Belstaff catalogue

What happened on this overnight trip is a case of “what happened in Skye, stays in Skye” though apparently the SSPCA were called to several crofts on Sunday morning to look at some very distressed sheep.

Well the Ladies of Harley team pulled it off with ( so far) raising more than double their original target with the total currently standing at £2175. All the team completed the challenge of the Renfrew Firewalk on Friday night and were delighted when Fitzy and Iain stepped up to collect the certificates of completion.
When interviewed after the event, Fitzy said ” I put down my success to the thickness of the soles in my Caterpillar Boots”…..Iain added, “aye, and I kept my socks on as well”…. Some achievement!
But seriously, the ladies I understand did at least 4 trips over the coals and now only walk with slight limps on the stumps that were left after the ordeal. Lucky they all have bikes to get on. We have all heard the phrase “knees in the breeze”, after the walk they were all “feet in the freezer”. A fantastic effort and if you still would like to contribute it’s not yet too late. The Ladies of Harley are once again on the march, literally through fire, in aid of Brain Tumour Research, a cause very close to everyone here at Clyde Valley HOG particularly at this moment in time.
Have a search down the back of the sofa, check the pockets of your jeans before you lob them in the washing machine (what do you mean you don’t wash your jeans?) . Check the wee bin things on that Ultra Glide, look in the panniers of your Sport Glide, and scrape together every penny you can to help the ladies with their quest to raise £1000.

On Saturday the 13th of August the Clyde Valley Ladies of Harley put on a spread of yummy cakes, muffins, meringues, scones and sponges to tempt visitors to West Coast Harley Davidson. The day was in aid of Breast Cancer Care and a grand total of £578 was raised, so a huge thanks to everyone that baked a cake, brought a bun or enjoyed a muffin (!).
Also a Saturday wouldn’t be a Saturday without a rideout and Road Captain, Raymond Brodie, led a group of bikes on a thoroughly enjoyable figure of eight run around the north side of Ayrshire. It wasn’t long because everyone wanted to get back for cake, but it was a lot of fun.
