Bike Nights are Changing

For 2026 we are giving the weekly Bike Nights a shake-up. We would have liked to continue at Springfield Quay, as we finished up last Summer but with Firepit and Kiln closing down somewhat suddenly, we have been using our winter haunt of The Harvester at Hillington over the winter months.

But Spring and Summer now beckon and we are giving Bike Nights a makeover and learning from the success of our off-season Sunday Big breakfasts and by moving these Bike Nights around, hopefully it opens up these casual nights to more of the membership, even if only once a month.

There is a simple rota to the new Bike Nights, starting on 1st April.

  • 1st Wednesday of the month: Broadwood Farm, Cumbernauld*
  • 2nd Wednesday of the month: Lord of the Isles, Braehead
  • 3rd Wednesday of the month: The Cotton Mill, Kilmarnock
  • The Wednesday immediately prior to a Glasgow Bike Night: The Harvester, Hillington
  • Last Thursday of the Month: Meet the Chapter @ Glasgow Bike Night, WCHD
  • On months where there are five Wednesday’s, the spare night will now be a Chippy Run.
Bike Nights 2026
Bike Nights 2026- check master for updates ( see link)

You can access the complete rota here.

The spare Wednesday can fall in different places but as there are only three in 2026 it’s not too hard to work out where we will be. Normally the 4th Wednesday of the month will be a Chippy Run except where the extra Wednesday falls AFTER a Glasgow Bike Night ( September is the only month in 2026).

Kilmarnock

As Hillington can also be a stretch for those in the further flung corners of Ayrshire and the Clyde Coast, we are offering the option of a monthly Kilmarnock meet-up, which might suit those more local and will be a place to head for those from further afield looking for a run out on a sunny summer evening….they do happen! If the take-up of this option isn’t happening, we may revisit this date and offer it as another Chippy run. We shall wait and see!

Glasgow Bike Nights and Meet the Chapter

For 2026, Meet the Chapter Nights are now being integrated into the Glasgow Bike Nights at WCHD on the last Thursday of the month from April to September. As our key night on those weeks will now be Glasgow Bike Night, the option to go to The Harvester at Hillington on the Wednesday may suit those who are fairly local to both venues.

Chippy Runs

We will publicise what Chippy we intend to head to, plan on being there sometime between 19:00 and 19:30. You can ride there yourself or arrange with mates to meet up and ride there as a mates ride. These are informal events and the chapter is merely providing a destination to meet at.

Bike Nights generally

Bike Nights are informal and we don’t care what bike you come along on. We even let Denis bring his Triumph! Apparently the HRC rides a Buell and a Kwak in his spare time….We would love you to get a few miles in on your Harley to help us with Ride365 but equally, we want to see some of those other bikes you might be hiding away in the garage as projects or as a bike on the side. And if you have friends or mates who might be interested in joining Clyde Valley HOG, bring them along as well, everyone is welcome.

*Broadwood Farm: PLEASE NOTE the car park is operated by a car park management firm and it is important that you register your registration at the terminal inside the door of the Pub/Restaurant on arrival to prevent getting a ticket in the post!

Presentation to Stephen Trainor

Stephen Trainor and Kenny Halley

On Saturday 15th November, we had the pleasure of welcoming back former Director Stephen Trainor for a heartfelt presentation celebrating his incredible 11 years of service with the Clyde Valley Chapter.

Stevie was presented with a beautifully engraved crystal decanter, a wee dram to fill it, and – most importantly – honorary life membership of the Chapter. A well-deserved recognition for his dedication and leadership over the years.

We also took the opportunity to show our appreciation for Brian Fitzsimmons, who served as Merchandise Officer, and Chris Kelly, our former Head Road Captain and, before that, Secretary. Both received gifts in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the Chapter.

To round off the occasion, Don Rutherford presented a special award, adding an extra highlight to an already memorable day.

A fantastic gathering filled with gratitude, stories, and good company.

LoH Strawberry Tea at Harleyween

A group photo featuring members of the Ladies of Harley and supporters holding large charity cheques for the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, outdoors on a sunny day.

Afternoon all!

A huge thank you to everyone who baked cakes for the Strawberry Tea and to everyone who came along, donated, and supported the event on Saturday.

We’re thrilled to share that we raised an incredible £1,135.56 in aid of Breast Cancer Now!

Our Ladies of Harley once again outdid themselves, serving up amazing cakes and treats – all for a great cause.

We were delighted to welcome guests from the British Red Cross and the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, who joined us to receive cheques from the Chapter.

A special shout-out and heartfelt thanks to the members from other chapters and the various bike clubs who came along – your support and camaraderie made the day even more special.

Raising money for Breast Cancer Now helps fund life-saving research, support patients and families, and improve care for everyone affected. Every donation brings us closer to better treatments, earlier detection, and a future where no one dies from breast cancer.

Thank you all for your generosity, enthusiasm, and support – you’ve truly helped make a difference!

See you all at the next Chapter event!

Wolfruna Chapter Iron Butt Challenge

This weekend our brothers and sisters at Wolfruna Chapter HOG are undertaking a mammoth 24 hour Iron Butt Challenge in aid of the The Chloe Smail Foundation. The team are riding from John O’Groats to Lands End in 24 hours via Newcastle, where I understand they plan to pay tribute to the Chloe . This is not an insignificant ride of over 1000 miles in 24 hours.

Wolfruna HOG Chapter are attempting an Iron Butt Challenge for the Chloe Smail Foundation, please support them here.

At short notice Clyde Valley were able to pull together a wee welcoming party to meet them as they came through West Coast Harley Davidson as they head north to their start point on Saturday.

After a visit and chat with everyone at the dealership Clyde Valley were delighted to escort the group out to Dunbarton where they were stopping overnight before tackling the last leg north today ( Friday).

Charitable Doings

Meet the Chapter Night

On Wednesday we had our monthly “Meet the Chapter night” at West Coast HD. It was a bit of a special occasion this one, with a good turnout of members as we had a wee presentation of the sum of £3000 to Prostate Scotland.

The money was collected from donations and fundraising activities at this year’s Gathering and rounded up from chapter charity funds to the final total.

After a wee talk of the activities of the charity the presentation of the cheque was made by our standing down Director Stevie Trainor.

Get tested boys!

Dunbar RNLI Gala Day

Moving on to Saturday and we had our annual outing supporting our friends at Dunedin HOG who participate in the RNLI Gala Day procession at Dunbar. Could we have had a better day for it? Doubtful. The bulk of the Clyde Valley bikes rode to Hermiston Gait on the west edge of Edinburgh where we met up with more CVH and Dunedin riders and we rode as a group to Dunbar in blistering sunshine.

There were I beleive 49 bikes in total and we joined the procession through the town and parked up along the harbour wall.

This looked like the biggest gala Day at Dunbar so far, with lots of stands and activities taking place. It was thankfully a little cooler at the harbour with the sea breezes. The ride back across East Lothian and beyond was done in continental heat with the air warm and the heat radiating off the road. A brilliant day out.

Meet the Chapter Night Presentation to Prostate Cancer Scotland

This Wednesday we have our regular monthly Meet the Chapter night between 18:00 and 20:00. As a special event , this month we have a representative of Prostate Cancer Scotland coming to collect a cheque which is the proceeds of what was collected at The Gathering in June.

It would be brilliant if we could have as many members present for the presentation, but also it would be great to have members who have been affected by Prostate Cancer either currently or in the past.

The weather is looking promising this week so we are optimistic for a big turn out.

All members and non-members welcome. Come and learn what being a member of Clyde Valley HOG is all about.

Director Stevie Trainor Standing Down After 11 Years Leading CVH

Director of Clyde Valley HOG, Stevie Trainor, standing down after 11 years at the helm
Director of Clyde Valley HOG, Stevie Trainor, standing down after 11 years at the helm

Clyde Valley’s HOG’s Chapter Director, Stevie Trainor has, after 11 years leading the chapter, decided to stand down. Stevie announced to the membership following discussions with Don Rutherford at West Coast HD earlier this week.

Stevie will manage the chapter up until a replacement has been decided upon and will be fully involved with organisation of the 2025 Gathering at the start of June. As most know Stevie is dealing with some health challenges and understandably wishes to focus on these.

Stevie’s announcement to the chapter reads:

Happy Easter everyone. I wanted to let you know I will be stepping down as Director of Clyde Valley HOG. As some of you will know I am facing some health issues and need to focus on beating this challenge I face. I have been Director for 11 years and to say I have had a blast is an understatement! I have made so many friends over the years who will remain friends for life. You are a great group of people and it’s been a privilege looking after the chapter for the last 11 years. Don will start the process of selecting a new Director and I am sure you will give them the support to help take the chapter forward. I’m not going away and will see you all on the road at some point. I wish you and your families all the best for future. Take care and ride safe. All the best Stephen

Stevie has led the chapter out of a poor financial situation, which was inherited back in 2014. He navigated the challenges of COVID in 2020-2022. Today, the chapter goes from strength to strength, backed by the top dealership in the UK.

Everyone at Clyde Valley HOG; Members past and present, friends and committee members as well as everyone at West Coast HD, and I am sure in the wider HOG family, thanks Stevie for his leadership, and wishes Stevie and Lesley, and his family all our love and best wishes for the future. We know you have got this beat Stevie!

Stevie Trainor Director Clyde Valley HOG

Stevie will be staying with Clyde Valley HOG both at the helm until a replacement and handover is settled upon and as a member going forward, so we will look forward to seeing him out on the road.

….and I know Stevie will want me to take this opportunity ( he is still the Gaffer after all!), to ask you to make sure you have your tickets for The Gathering, if not follow the link below!

Dumfries House Ride Out

A run in the vein of ; dry on the way out….need to dry out on the way back.

With a nasty wet and unsettled period forecast for Saturday afternoon an intrepid group led by Raymond and crewed by Fraz and Paddy, headed for Dumfries House which isn’t in Dumfries.

A great run was had by all, at least going there, and any weather related chills were dispelled by a plate of hot soup at the cafeteria of Dumfries House before the return journey through the increasingly unsettled weather and Ayrshire countryside.

Pics by Fraz.

A ride out wouldn’t be a ride out without something happening requiring the need for access to power tools for Fraz’s bike. Last year it was angle grinders at Gretna ( allegedly) this time round it was welders at West Coast to put back the section of Fraz’s exhaust that nearly decapitated Paddy.

They maybe forgot the flag again…..

New Run What Ya Brung Policy at CVH

A New Direction

After much deliberation, the Clyde Valley HOG Committee have decided to implement a “Run What You Brung” Policy on Dealer and Chapter ride-outs. This decision is in response to demand from chapter members.

Denis and his Triumph
Denis was said to have been beside himself with delight at the news of Run What Ya Brung…

Basically, you can ride any bike you like on the day without any reason for not using a Harley. This should keep those members who prefer to keep their Harley’s clean, dry and unused satisfied, so that you can return them to the dealership after their 4 years PCP deal, basically unblemished with delivery miles on.

Shas on her 125
Shas on her 125

In fact with so many dealerships (of all makes) closing , we feel a need to support the wider biking community who might want to ride product of the HDMC but maybe can’t afford to, or who might still be striving for that full licence. Thus we will be opening up membership to learner riders and riders of other makes too. New Members will merely have to have expressed an interest in a Harley, or have at least been in the car park of the dealership.

Sportsbike rideout

We hope our more purist members understand this decision and we look forward to seeing lots of different makes and marques on our ride outs.

Adventure Bike Rider
ADV riders will especially enjoy our Stand Up, Feet Up, Dirty Dirty Mudflaps ride outs. Especially where the Road Captain leads on a HD Ultra Limited.

As we expect to see an influx of both Sportsbike riders and Adventure Bike riders as well, we will be introducing two new ride out variants on a monthly basis.

New Feature Ride Out’s

Feet up riding
Feet up riding
  1. Stand Up, Feet Up, Dirty Dirty Mudflaps: All bikes welcome but the riders will be expected to stand on the pegs for at least 80% of the ride out and 50% of the ride out while not being “off road” in the strictest sense, will take to gravel trails and forest tracks…..bring a shovel.
  2. Ride It Like You Stole It: Knee sliders at the ready, passing in the group permitted, ( in fact not overtaking will be frowned upon) and members passing while “on tail*” will attract points towards the “Chapter Hooligan” patch ( To be presented at Winterfest). Bonus points for passing the Road Captain, especially if he is riding a Buell. Again, all bike types may join these runs, though wearing the traditional Power Ranger Suit may be desireable, riders will still be expected to wear a Chapter Cut over the top of their Dainese or RST leathers.

We can’t wait to see what you turn up on for our ride to EHD next weekend!

*On Tail: Wheelie-ing for those members that have not been around bikes long
